The Mona Lisa, the most recognizable smile in the world. Her face has been in more movies, on more book jackets, and in more photographs, than any other visage in the world today. She has been the center of a thousand plots, the subject of numerous songs, the target of countless parodies, and the influence for centuries of art.

KlearKase is very excited to announce that after working with the Musée du Louvre for nearly a year we are almost ready to unveil the brand new KlearKase for Mona Lisa; a larger, climate controlled version of the KlearKase for Kindle Fire with a few other modifications. The new KlearKase for Mona Lisa will be open for viewing for the first time on May 2nd, the anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death in 1519.

The French government first contacted KlearKase LLC about designing a case for the famous artwork after President Nicolas Sarkozy dropped his Kindle in the bidet. Luckily the French Secret Service had already fitted the device with a KlearKase, so no damages occurred.

Sarkozy spoke on his decision to contact KlearKase saying, “The French people have always held their culture and themselves in the highest regard, so it only made sense that we should upgrade the Mona Lisa’s protection to equal standards.”

Louvre staff are reportedly very excited about the built in “Touch Screen Protector,” which will allow visitors to touch the painting with complete safety for the first time since its creation; a particular benefit to the Blind Art Aficionados Association or BAAA.

Alright, gang. So you have the Kindle, and you encased it safely in a KlearKase. Now what? Well, that is the problem lots of folks have. They grab a tablet, get the latest gear, and then sit around wondering what to actually do with it. The best thing to do with a Kindle, I find, is to read. I have a flight back East coming up and let me tell you, I am seriously happy I have my Fire. This time last year, I would have been hauling about a metric ton of books with me while checking my phone every two minutes to see if I had an email. Now I have all in one with the tablet—about time I say.

So here’s an interesting thing: Kindle has a bucket-load of free books or ones for just 99 cents. Not bad, right? That’s what I thought when I first heard about it. Problem was, I couldn’t find the darn things. Here is a great article that explains all the various ways to actually procure one of these gratis beauties, and this link will actually bring you to a site I found that gives you free titles daily! There are a lot of tools out there if you look. But that’s what I’m here for— I look for you.

What other news, you ask? I’ve whetted your appetite and now you need more info? Clap your eyes on this then: a nice heaping helping of vindication for all us Fire folk. The Kindle Fire, according to Forbes Magazine, is now the number one Android tablet out there. Guess we made the right choice, eh? In December when the Fire launched, it made up 29.4% of the tablet market, which for a launch is really good; but now it’s at a healthy 54.4%! What’s more, the Samsung Galaxy, the number two tablet, only controls 15.4%. Fire owners, that’s a slam dunk my friends.

So take a load off, pat yourself on the back, and read a nice free book (free also from fear of hurting your brilliant purchase, thanks to your KlearKase). You earned it for being so smart.

It was announced Saturday that Queen Elizabeth II will be conferring the honorary title of knighthood on the employees of KlearKase LLC after their staff , while visiting London, used a KlearKase to safeguard the Crown Jewels two weeks ago. The quick thinking employees used one of their KlearKase for Kindle Fire on the national treasures after noticing the original encasement had broken, allowing safe viewing through the clear screen protector until authorities arrived.

This would make KlearKase LLC one of only a handful of non-British citizens to receive the honor, joining the ranks of Alan Greenspan, Nelson Mandela, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Douglas Fairbanks.

In Saturday’s announcement the Queen said, “After I heard what had happened it became very clear to me (the Queen is known for her fondness of puns) that the people of KlearKase had performed above and beyond their duty in the service of the Crown.”

UK’s Prime Minister, David Cameron was overheard saying, “Not since the lens cap has a protective case so resolutely and successfully defended a nation’s pride and heritage.”

The date for the ceremony has not yet been set.

Big news, BIG news in the KlearKase and art world. Today, Christophe (celebrated environmental artist best known for works such as Transparency, where he wrapped the U.S Capitol Building with cellophane and Opaque, where he filled the Reflecting Pool with mayonnaise), has officially announced his next installation. One year from today, the island of Rapa Nui, AKA, Easter Island will be covered not only with the monolithic statues that for so many years inspired mystery and controversy, but also with eight hundred and eighty seven massive KlearKases.

Christophe states that he was inspired by the cautionary tale of the ancient civilization of Easter Island. The people who once lived there had been a warring people, a people who enslaved and killed their neighbors. To celebrate themselves and their conquests they erected enormous statues in their own image all around the island. To move each statue they had to cut down hundreds of trees in order to roll the massive stones to their location. After years of fighting and statue raising, Easter Island finally ran out of trees. A once forested and lush island lay empty. The ancient warriors are now gone, their culture and home dying due to their unsustainable practices and hubris.

Christophe decided to use the KlearKase not only because of its beautiful simplicity, the clean cut lines, the pure aesthetic so far removed from the garish faces of the Moai statues, but also for what the KlearKase represent; the protection of knowledge in the digital age. Knowledge, the only defense we have against the destruction that Easter Island symbolizes, will stand tall, overshadowing the baser instinct personified in the statues.

Each of the 887 Maoi statues will have a single KlearKase behind it, dwarfing it. Sources close to the project say that when “the light hits all of those KlearKases it will look like hundreds of jewels dotting the bare island, shining bright in contrast with the dark Maoi..”
